Thank you for your interest in our aviation pilot wellbeing survey. This survey has now closed for responses and is in the analysis phase. If you have elected to participate in the follow-up interview, invitation emails will be sent out in June / July 2026.

Study summary

This PhD study explores how pilots experience and manage stress at work and in personal life, and how peer support (PPSPs) and family dynamics may contribute to wellbeing and help-seeking.

Confidentiality

The questionnaire is anonymous. The research is not conducted or funded by any airline, employer, or regulator. Data is stored securely in line with Buckinghamshire New University policy and used for the PhD dissertation and may contribute to publications in anonymised form.

Disclosure limits: if information indicates an intention to harm self/others or endanger flight safety, this cannot remain confidential and will be escalated to the academic supervisor for appropriate action.
